In A rose is a rose is a rose, Maria Amparo Gomar Vidal creates a counter-monument to victims of Franco’s violence Spain, particularly in Paterna. Rooted in collective memory and community resistance, the installation combines photography, video, and symbolic gestures — like the planting of roses — developed in collaboration with local women. Inspired by a single rose discovered during a mass grave exhumation, the work reflects on political trauma, inherited mourning, and the healing power of remembrance.

Aligning with the core of GLIMPSES: the intergenerationality of identity, Gomar Vidal’s project explores how personal and historical memory is passed down through generations. It asks: How do communities reclaim silenced histories? What rituals emerge from the need to honor the past? The work emphasizes intergenerational dialogue, the emotional weight of inherited memory, and the resilience of those who continue to carry it forward.

In Reclaim. Louise Deininger transforms the universal scar we all carry — the belly button — into a symbol of heritage, storytelling, spirituality, and identity.
Through her installation, Deininger invites us to revisit the scars we bear, not as wounds to conceal, but as pathways to healing and empowerment. Her work celebrates ancestral knowledge and the strength inherited through generations, encouraging a process of forgiveness and transformation.
The belly button, our first mark of connection, becomes a portal: a reminder of the unseen bonds that tie us to those who came before.
Visitors are invited to reflect on their own scars — including physical ,mental ,spiritual and emotional scars— and to reclaim their true nature, supported by the silent wisdom of their ancestors and the resilience rooted within.
Reclaim. is a celebration of healing, a ritual of remembrance, and a call to honor the stories etched in our bodies and spirits.
In Reclaim. Louise Deininger embodies the spirit of GLIMPSES: the intergenerationality of identity by exploring how personal and ancestral memory is carried through the body, scars, and rituals. By focusing on the bellybutton — a universal mark of origin — she invites reflection on inherited histories, the healing of emotional wounds, and the reclaiming of identity. Her work transforms scars into sources of strength, embodying the intergenerational echoes, transformations, and acts of remembering that GLIMPSES seeks to illuminate.

An exploration of memory, ancestry, and the invisible threads that shape who we are

How do inherited memories move through bodies, landscapes, and materials? What stories live in scars, rituals, silence, and everyday gestures?
GLIMPSES. The Intergenerationality of Identity
brings together Louise Deininger, Maria Amparo Gomar Vidal, Guadalupe Aldrete, Rafael Lippuner, Paula Flores, Bettina Eigner and Nina Sandino, a group of artists whose works navigate the layered terrain of identity across generations. From performative landscapes and sculptural counter-monuments to sound-based rituals and immersive installations, the project explores the somatic, poetic, and political dimensions of ancestry.

At its core, GLIMPSES examines the intergenerational transmission of identity: How do we carry our histories? What stories do we choose to remember, and which ones do we transform? It opens a space for pluricultural dialogue — a shared reflection on heritage, cultural memory, and ancestral connections — and considers how these threads shape who we are.

Developed by the curatorial platform Ancestral Synonyms in collaboration with eindorf and KASAL, this year-long program unfolds in a series of solo exhibitions, performances, and conversations. Each artistic position invites us to pause, reflect, and listen – to the whispers of those who came before, and the echoes they leave behind.
